Supporting the internet inside your school
Wireless network upgrade and support
This year we will begin upgrading the hardware that makes the internet work throughout classrooms.
We will replace wireless access points and switches in schools, as many are aging or coming out of warranty. Once replaced, we will support schools with their wireless networks via our Helpdesk.
The Ministry of Education tasked N4L to start this work to support their new Te Mana Tūhono programme, designed to remove the burden from schools to monitor, maintain and manage their school networks.
By extending our Managed Network services into classrooms, N4L can deliver a more consistent, sustainable and safer internet experience for students and teachers so they can focus on great teaching and learning.
Just over 200 schools will get the new hardware by the end June 2020. Remaining schools will be upgraded over the next four years. The rollout schedule will be shared as it is developed.
As with our previous upgrades, we’ll be appointing local technology companies to help us with the rollout. We will publish further updates over the upcoming weeks.
