Final update: 28 July 12pmÂ
The final phase of the maintenance work to upgrade Equipment Support schools has been completed.Â
This means access to the Ruckus SmartZone controller has been restored for all schools and IT providers, so you can continue to manage your school’s network.Â
Updated 5:00pm, 22 July – Following our earlier advisory regarding a vulnerability affecting Ruckus SmartZone controllers, a patch for Equipment Support schools has been released from CommScope. We’ll need to run tests before the upgrade, which will take place this weekend, Friday 25 – Sunday 27 July.Â
During the maintenance window, your Wi-Fi network will continue to operate, and schools can connect new devices, however, you’ll be unable to make any configuration changes or connect new devices to your guest network.Â
Please note that devices already connected to the Wi-Fi once the maintenance starts will stay connected during this time.
Further information on the vulnerabilities is available on the Ruckus CommScope Advisory.
Updated 8:16pm, 20 July – We estimate access to the Ruckus SmartZone controller will be restored for all schools and IT providers around 9am, Monday 21 July. We’ll update this alert if anything changes.
Updated 4:18pm, 18 July – Maintenance is taking place across 18 – 19 July to mitigate these vulnerabilities, which you can read more on here. Once complete, access to the Ruckus SmartZone controller will be restored for all schools and IT providers on Monday morning, 21 July.
Posted 6:01pm, 14 July – We’ve identified a group of potentially critical vulnerabilities affecting schools’ Ruckus SmartZone controller software.
To protect the networks, we’ve disabled access to the SmartZone controller for schools and IT providers. This means changes to the network environment are temporarily blocked while remediation options are reviewed. During this time, schools’ Wi-Fi networks will continue to operate.
If you need to make changes to your network, contact our Customer Support team at [email protected]. Please note, we’re currently experiencing a higher-than-usual volume of cases, but we’ll aim to respond as quickly as possible.
Further information on the vulnerabilities is available on the Ruckus CommScope Advisory, and we’ll continue to provide updates here as we find out more.
