AUCKLAND, New Zealand

Crown-owned technology company Network for Learning (N4L) is delighted to have won two awards – Broadband Provider of the Year and Best Customer Support – Broadband – at the NZ Compare Awards: Broadband, Energy & Mobile Awards 2022.

The NZ Compare Awards 2022 took place on Thursday 1 December at a cocktail event at the Aotea Centre in Auckland.

N4L connects, protects and supports more than 2,460 schools and kura across the country, enabling more than 900,000 tumuaki, kaiako and ākonga to enjoy safer, more secure internet.

Broadband Provider of the Year is awarded to the New Zealand internet service provider chosen by award judges from the winners and entries of the other Broadband Compare Award categories, excluding the Broadband Compare People’s Choice Award. N4L has previously been awarded Broadband Provider of the Year in 2018.

About the win in this category, the judges said: “We have seen how important having good technology and connectivity in schools has been recently. With such high customer satisfaction ratings, it is awesome to see N4L thriving in such a tricky time in the education sector.”

For the Best Customer Support – Broadband award, N4L was selected from a strong field of seven contenders. It is awarded to the NZ broadband provider that best demonstrates a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Fellow 2022 nominees for this award were Contact Energy, Farmside, Now, Slingshot, Voyager Internet and Wireless Nation. N4L was previously a finalist for this award in 2021.

Commenting on N4L’s win in the Best Customer Support – Broadband category, the judges said: “N4L is showing what is possible with a focus on loving a customer base, and investing in ensuring the right outcomes. Impressed by the proactive, ongoing engagement to ensure customer feedback and satisfaction. Well done, N4L.”

N4L Chief Executive Officer Larrie Moore says: “We are honoured and so proud to have received two awards at the Compare Awards. This past year has presented some disruption and challenges, and our team has had to adapt to changing circumstances to maintain our ambitious service and customer satisfaction targets. Our success, as always, has been down to our people and our partnerships, who continue to deliver exceptional service and world-class, cybersecure internet to schools and kura across Aotearoa.”

N4L delivers a wide range of managed broadband, Wi-Fi and cybersecurity products and services, on behalf of the Ministry for Education, to state and state-integrated schools and kura in Aotearoa New Zealand. Today, it operates one of the largest broadband networks in the country, accounting for nearly 25% of all daytime internet traffic in New Zealand.

Some of the highlights of N4L’s 2021/22 year were 94% of schools and kura reporting they are satisfied with its customer service, and the Customer Support team fielding nearly 44,000 support cases.

The success of N4L’s customer service can be put down to its provision of several layers of frontline customer support to schools: its Customer Support team, Network Management team, Service Delivery team and School Relationship Managers. In addition, customers are supported by specialists in the Delivery Engineering Team and Security Operations Centre (SOC). In recent times, N4L has also expanded its remit through increased support for school networks, cybersecurity, environmental monitoring, email protection and NZQA online exams.

Mr Moore says: “Our customers have been telling us for some time now that they appreciate what we’re doing. These awards cap that achievement off. I’d like to thank the incredible N4L team and our partners for their exceptional hard work and dedication to schools and kura.”
